Hi everyone! I examined a puppy today, and they told me it was a miniature Pomeranian, but I think it’s a little big for the breed.
What are the standards for identifying it?
If the puppy appears larger, it may be a larger variety or still growing. The most reliable way to accurately determine the breed is a genetic test, which will reveal whether the puppy is a Pomeranian or other breed.
A true miniature Pomeranian is usually very small—on average 1.4–3 kg. If the puppy is larger, it’s likely a teacup pomeranian . They are even smaller and especially tiny. Breed standards typically consider weight, height, muzzle shape, and coat, so sometimes a puppy’s size seems odd. So, if a puppy is slightly larger than a classic mini, that’s normal.
