This game was supposed to be about the return of Mac Jones. Then, it was supposed to be about the continued magic of Bailey Zappe. But in the end, the biggest story from Monday night was the Bears coming into Foxborough and shocking the NFL with a dominant 33-14 win over the Patriots.Justin Fields and the Chicago offense silenced their critics with a stunning performance on the road, racking up 33 points and 24 first downs. It was a sight for sore eyes for Bears fans, who had to watch as their team mustered just 7 points last time out in a horrendous Week 6 lo s to the Commanders.MORE:Jones’ return from a high ankle sprain was short-lived. He left the game after just 6 pa s attempts, with his final throw of the night ending in an interception for the Bears. After the turnover, Bill Belichick decided to turn back to Bailey Zappe. The rookie became something of a phenomenon in New England after leading the team to a 2-0 record in his first two NFL Conor Garland Jersey starts. Perhaps looking for another spark, Belichick sent him in in the second quarter facing a 10-0 deficit. And the spark came right away. Zappe started his night 4 of 4, throwing for a touchdown and completing a deep pa s downfield to set up another as the Patriots roared back to take a 14-10 lead. But unfortunately for them, that’s when Zappe’s magic finally ran out.Chicago completely dominated the rest of the way, bullying the Patriots on both sides of the ball as they outscored the home team 13-0 in the second half. It was a real statement to the rest of the league, and one of the biggest wins of Fields’ young career. The win leaves both teams at 3-4 on the season. Both face tough tests in Week 8, with the Bears traveling to take on the Cowboys while the Patriots head to New York to take on the Jets.MORE: Sporting News was tracking live scoring updates and highlights as Chicago took on New England on “Monday Night Football.” Here are all the key moments you might have mi sed.Q1Q2Q3Q4FBears10106733Patriots0140014()11:12 p.m. FINAL The Patriots don’t even bother running a play, as Zappe takes a knee to wrap things up. After a competitive first half, the Bears absolutely dominated the final two quarters to secure a blowout win.11:11 p.m. They can’t find the end zone after three straight runs, and Fields just kneels it on 4th down to avoid running up the score.11:10 p.m. TWO-MINUTE WARNING The Bears take over inside the Patriots’ 5-yard line. But whether or not they score, this game is going to end in a dominant win for Chicago. What a ma sive win for Justin Fields and this franchise.11:05 p.m. INTERCEPTION A night that started so well for Zappe keeps on getting worse. His throw intended for Thornton was way behind his target, and Chicago’s Kyler Gordon came up with the pick, nearly running it all the way back for a touchdown. So much for Zappe Mania in New England.Intercepted by Kyler Gordon!Another rookie coming up big for the Bears : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 11:03 p.m. New England center David Andrews was the victim of a blindside block on Smith’s interception a few minutes ago. ESPN’s Lisa Salters just reported he’s been taken to the locker room to be evaluated for a head injury.10:58 p.m. On 3rd and 5, Herbert takes the handoff and comes up just short of the line to gain. The Bears’ offense stays on the field to try and draw the Patriots offside, but they don’t bite. This will be Chicago’s second punt of the night.10:53 p.m. INTERCEPTION Zappe looks to throw over the middle, but his pa s gets tipped at the line and intercepted by Roquan Smith! That will probably secure the win for Chicago. Zappe hasn’t been able to get anything going at all since he ignited this game in the second quarter.Intercepted by Roquan Smith! How about this 2nd half from the ‘ defense? : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 10:50 p.m. On 3rd and 3, Zappe completes it to Meyers to pick up the 1st down. Two plays later, he finds Parker downfield for a gain of 13 yards. Points are a must on this drive if the Patriots have any chance of coming back in this one.10:49 p.m. Still no sign of Mac Jones. Zappe returns to the field again to start the drive for New England.10:46 p.m. It’s hard to overstate just how important a game like this could be for the Bears going forward. After such well-documented struggles on offense in recent weeks, this must feel really, really good. They certainly deserve their lead right now.Bears 33, Patriots 1410:43 p.m. TOUCHDOWN And that’s exactly what they get! Montgomery lowers his shoulder and muscles his way into the end zone! The Bears have scored 23 unanswered points to blow this game wide open.David Montgomery powers it in to extend the ‘ lead. : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 10:41 p.m. The Bears go back to the ground game with three straight running plays. Herbert and Montgomery combine to pick up another first down and move the ball down to the 5-yard line. A touchdown here could go a long way to sealing this win.End of third quarter: Bears 26, Patriots 1410:35 p.m. On 3rd and 4, Fields converts yet again with a 7 yard pa s to St. Brown. The Bears have been a stellar 10 of 15 on 3rd down conversions tonight, a huge reason why they’re winning comfortably.10:32 p.m. Dante Pettis breaks off a nice punt return to set the Bears up with great field position. They’ll start the drive at the New England 39-yard line.10:31 p.m. Chicago’s Trevis Gipson makes a great play off the edge to bat the ball out of the air and bring up 4th down. New England will punt again, and the magic Zappe had in the first half has evaporated.10:28 p.m. A tripping penalty goes against New England on 1st down. That puts them behind the sticks, but Zappe finds Stevenson on two consecutive pa ses to bring up 3rd and 2.Bears 26, Patriots 1410:25 p.m. FIELD GOAL Santos has done his part tonight to change the “Bears kickers” narrative. His kick is right down the middle from 50 yards out to extend the lead.Cairo Santos anda CUARTO gol de campo y los tienen ventaja de 12 : / NFL Mxico (@nflmx) 10:25 p.m. On 3rd and 8, Matt Eberflus opts to hand it off and Montgomery picks up 5 yards. Santos trots on for another field goal attempt.10:22 p.m. Chicago gets another first down on three straight running plays to move inside the Patriots’ 40-yard line. Two plays later, Fields throws deep to the end zone, but it’s just over the head of Mooney. Mooney had a yard and that could have been a touchdown if Fields had made a slightly better throw.10:18 p.m. After a short run followed by an incompletion, Chicago quickly faces 3rd and 7. Fields spins away from a pa s-rusher, then rolls left and fires down the left sideline to Kmet. The tight end makes a great diving catch to pick up the first down, another nice offensive play by the Bears!Fields keeps making things happen : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 10:14 p.m. Damien Harris runs for 4 yards on 1st down, then Zappe throws incomplete on 2nd. On 3rd and 6, Chicago’s Roquan Smith hauls Zappe down for a sack, and that will be a three-and-out. Not the best start to the half for the Patriots’ offense.10:10 p.m. In case you mi sed it, in favor of Bailey Zappe tonight.Bears 23, Patriots 1410:09 p.m. FIELD GOAL Santos stays perfect on the night from 38 yards, and the Bears now lead 23-14. How will Zappe and Co. respond?10:08 p.m. A false start backs them up, and a few plays later it’s 3rd and 10 from the 20-yard line. Fields goes deep right to the end zone, but it’s incomplete and it’ll be another field goal attempt.10:05 p.m. Dante Pettis gets the handoff on his first run of the year and bursts ahead for a big gain of 29 yards. Two plays later, Fields finds St. Brown for another 1st down gain. Chicago has the ball inside the red zone.10:04 p.m. Did you mi s Barack Obama on the “Manningcast” tonight? Here are the former POTUS’, including pardoning Peyton.10:03 p.m. Chicago quickly faces 3rd and 6. Fields drops the snap, but he picks it up and shows off his wheels to get to the edge and pick up a first down. The Patriots are having a hard time containing him on the ground tonight.10:00 p.m. START OF SECOND HALF The Bears get the ball first to start the third quarter.9:51 p.m. What a half! That had a little bit of everything. The big story is obviously Zappe replacing Jones and immediately scoring 14 points to take the lead. But how about Fields and the Bears’ offense? They’ve had an answer for everything New England has thrown at them so far, and their big response gives them a six-point lead at the break.End of first half: Bears 20, Patriots 149:45 p.m. FIELD GOAL New England gets called for defensive holding, but with just 3 seconds left Chicago has to settle for a field goal try. Santos bangs it through from close range and the Bears extend their lead to 6 points at the end of the first half.9:44 p.m. Facing 3rd and 16, Fields rolls to his left and fires a strike to Mooney for a gain of 17 and another first down. There are 11 seconds left in the half and the Bears have it at the Patriots’ 10-yard line.9:42 p.m. On the very next play, Fields scrambles left but the ball slips out of his hands somehow and bounces backwards. He has to cover it up and take a huge lo s, setting up 2nd and 25.9:39 p.m. Fields gets sacked for a big lo s on 2nd down to set up 3rd and 14. He drops back and has to escape heavy pre sure in the pocket, but he breaks a tackle and sprints for a 20-yard gain! Heck of a play by the QB.9:37 p.m. FUMBLE Huge mistake by New England! Zappe tries to hand it off to Jakobi Meyers on an outside run, but there’s an i sue with the exchange and the ball hits the turf. Justin Jones pounces on it to set Chicago up inside the Patriots 40-yard line!Bears get it right back : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 9:36 p.m. Maybe Zappe is human after all. He had Thornton open near the left sideline, but he overthrew him for his first incompletion of the night.Bears 17, Patriots 149:33 p.m. TOUCHDOWN What a response by Chicago! The Patriots blitz on 1st down, but Fields pump fakes and slings a screen pa s left to Herbert. He’s got plenty of blockers and nothing but daylight in front of him, and he runs untouched for an easy touchdown!Khalil Herbert to the house untouched! : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 9:30 p.m. TWO-MINUTE WARNING Fields hits Mooney downfield for 16 yards to move into New England territory. A few plays later, he keeps it on 3rd and 5 and picks up 9 more yards to earn a fresh set of downs. That’ll take us to the two-minute warning.9:26 p.m. The Bears respond with a methodical start to the drive. After a few decent runs, Khalil Herbert breaks loose for a 10-yard gain to move close to midfield.9:22 p.m. Look, let’s try not to get ahead of ourselves. But it’s hard not to think we’re witne sing something special. Zappe has been flawle s so far, helping to turn a 10-point deficit into a 4-point lead with just four throws.Patriots 14, Bears 109:20 p.m. TOUCHDOWN Stevenson gets the handoff from inside the 5 and waltzes in for another score! This game has been turned on its head in the last few minutes.Rhamondre Stevenson gives the the lead! : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 9:19 p.m. This is something else. Zappe can do no wrong! On the first play of the drive, he airs it out to DeVante Parker, who makes a spectacular catch for a 43-yard gain!DeVante Parker OH MY : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 9:17 p.m. INTERCEPTION What a HUGE momentum swing! Fields looks to pa s on 3rd and 5, but it’s tipped my Judon and falls right into the arms of Myles Bryant! It’s New England’s ball at midfield.Intercepted by Myles Bryant! have all the momentum. : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 9:15 p.m. Fields starts the Bears’ drive with a scramble for 15 yards. He’s always a threat to make plays with his legs.9:12 p.m. We may have just seen a changing of the guard in New England. Zappe seized his opportunity right away with a perfect touchdown drive. Is this the end of Mac Jones’ time as starter?Bears 10, Patriots 79:09 p.m. TOUCHDOWN WOW. THE LEGEND OF ZAPPE KEEPS ON GROWING. On the ensuing play, he goes deep left to a WIDE open Jakobi Meyers. Meyers stumbles, but he wasn’t touched so he gets up and lunges into the end zone for a touchdown! How about that!Bailey Zappe to Jakobi Meyers for a TD! : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 9:07 p.m. He’s off to a good start. After completing his first throw to Jonnu Smith for a short gain, he finds Stevenson open on 3rd and 5 for a big gain. The Patriots have it at Chicago’s 30-yard line.9:05 p.m. And right on cue, here’s Zappe getting ready to enter the game. A loud cheer goes up as the rookie from Western Kentucky takes the field.Bailey Zappe enters the game at QB for the : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 9:03 p.m. Two incompletions by Fields bring up a quick 3rd and 10. He rolls right and looks desperately downfield for someone to throw to, but there’s nobody home and Matthew Judon wraps him up for a sack. The Bears can’t take advantage of the turnover and will have to punt.9:02 p.m. Not the greatest start for Mac Jones tonight. You have to wonder if we’ll see Zappe at some point…8:59 p.m. INTERCEPTION I gue s Brisker isn’t hurt too bad! The rookie returns to the field and makes a great play to pick off Jones, whose throw to Jonnu Smith sailed just a tad. It allowed Brisker to jump in front of the receiver, and he made a beautiful catch to hang on for the interception.One-handed! gets the INT. : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 8:57 p.m. On 3rd and 1, Stevenson takes the handoff and just barely makes the line to gain. That looked like a pretty favorable spot by the officials, but neverthele s the drive stays alive.8:55 p.m. Another injury for Chicago. This time it’s rookie safety Jaquan Brisker. More bad news for Bears fans. This one doesn’t look too bad, thankfully.8:54 p.m. Jones hasn’t aired it out much yet tonight, but somewhat surprisinglyhe’s been pretty good on the ground. He just picked up 8 more yards on a QB keeper.8:52 p.m. By the way, Bears offensive lineman Lucas Patrick was just carted to the locker room. Tough blow for Chicago.End of first quarter: Bears 10, Patriots 08:51 p.m. Jones completes it to Hunter Henry for another 1st down gain, and that will take us to the end of the quarter.8:49 p.m. A Stevenson run sets up 3rd and 5. Jones drops back, then tucks and runs for a gain of 10 to move the chains. His ankle looks alright so far.8:48 p.m. On 1st down, Jones heaves it down the left sideline to Tyquan Thornton. The receiver had a step on his man, but the pa s was just slightly overthrown.8:45 p.m. Where was this last week? That was a really impre sive drive by Chicago and they’re out to an early double-digit lead. Fields looks composed and decisive so far. Bears 10, Patriots 08:43 p.m. TOUCHDOWN After Montgomery powers for a tough 8-yard run, Fields takes the snap on 2nd down and dives into the end zone for the score! What a start for the Bears’ offense!Six points for : on ESPN: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) 8:42 p.m. N’Keal Harry makes a catch for 14 more yards to move Chicago into the red zone, then Fields keeps it and runs down to near the 10-yard line.8:39 p.m. A screen pa s to tight end Cole Kmet gets 6 yards on 1st down, but Montgomery is bottled up on 2nd. On 3rd and 6, Fields escapes the pocket and finds St. Brown open downfield for another big gain. The Bears have it at the Patriots’ 33-yard line now.8:36 p.m. Jones just hands it off to Stevenson, who gets 6 yards but that’s not enough. Another three-and-out sparks loud boos already from the fans in Foxborough.8:34 p.m. Patriots offensive lineman Trent Brown has had a horrendous start tonight. In just over 8 minutes of game time, he’s already been called for three penalties. His latest flag, a false start, sets up 3rd and 10 for New England.Bears 3, Patriots 08:28 p.m. FIELD GOAL Montgomery rumbles for a gain of 9 on 3rd down, but he’s still a ways short. Matt Eberflus sends on the field goal unit, and Cairo Santos connects from 42 yards to give Chicago an early lead.Cairo Santos fue el encargado de romper el cero de los que ya se pusieron arriba en este : / NFL Mxico (@nflmx) 8:26 p.m. Fields follows that up with another completion to Equanimeous St. Brown for 11 more yards.
