I’m trying to improve our driver qualification and vetting workflow, and I’m curious how other fleets are handling it.Do you prefer doing everything manually (paper files, spreadsheets, reminders, etc.) or using a software-based Driver Qualification Management system?
We used to manage DQ files manually, but it became a headache—tracking medical card expirations, safety certificates, background checks, and MVR updates felt impossible as we added more drivers. One missed renewal can easily snowball into a DOT violation.
Recently, we started exploring software options to simplify all of this. I noticed some fleets are switching to digital tools like a DOT compliance app, which can automate reminders and store everything in one place.
One example is the SafeRoad Compliance Portal, which some operators say helps track driver docs, certifications, alerts, and audit readiness in real time.Apparently, the platform was built by Elisol LLC, so the UI is pretty clean and easy to navigate. I’m considering testing it out but wanted to hear real experiences from people here.
