I’ve always been a bit of a risk-taker. In the car flipping game, sometimes you gotta gamble. But I learned a valuable lesson early on: never skip the pre-auction inspection.
There was this one auction, I was still pretty green. They had a pickup truck listed, looked good in the photos, decent mileage. I figured, why waste time with an inspection? I put in a bid, won the truck, and went to pick it up.
That’s when I saw it. The bed of the truck was completely rusted out. I mean, you could see straight through to the ground. Turns out, the photos were strategically taken to hide the damage. I was stuck with a truck that was practically worthless.
It was a costly mistake, but I learned my lesson. Now, I inspect every car before I bid, no matter how good it looks online. I check the engine, the frame, the undercarriage, everything. It takes a little extra time, but it’s worth it to avoid those expensive surprises. Trust me, in the car flipping business, knowledge is power.
